Hello everyone – I hope you are enjoying May, which is National Bike Month!

If you’re wondering what other important Mother Nature sensitive dates are celebrated in May, here are a few more to plan for. Remember to get out and enjoy nature and to visit us at the Assiniboine Park Zoo on Saturday, May 23 as we celebrate World Turtle Day and International Biodiversity Day. The Zoo Education Department will be at the Tropical House from 10:30 am to 3:30 pm, with an interpretive booth and live turtle display.

May 4 to 10 – Composting Awareness Week (in the UK) and National Forest Week (in the US)

May 9 – National Migratory Bird Day

May 10 – Fair Trade Day

May 12 – Canada Health Day

May 14 – International Migratory Bird Day

May 16 – Endangered Species Day

May 17-23 – Sun Awareness Week

May 21 – World Day for Culture Development

May 22 – International Day for Biological Diversity (UN)

May 23 – World Turtle Day

May 31 – June 6 – Canadian Environment Week
